Amanda is a newly elected member of council.  She shares her thoughts and gives some highlights from the BCYAYM council's 10th, 11th, 12th November meeting in Cadboro Bay, Vancouver Island.

This past weekend in Victoria, the 2011-2012 council met for the first time and I felt so thrilled and excited to be a part of it. It started in excitement as everyone reconnected and was happy to see each other again and the energy lasted the whole weekend – it almost felt like a mini conference. Complete with a giant fort and a ton of candy, this weekend was both inspiring and full of laughs. Inspiring because I felt empowered to further develop our ideas for fall conference as well as spread the word about BCYAYM in my community. The meeting was a new experience for me and I felt blessed to be able to openly share my ideas and give a fresh opinion to the planning of the next conference. There were so many wonderful ideas shared and I am happy to say that the 2012 conference in Merritt will be a ton of fun! During the meeting, the room was buzzing as people thought of ideas for what they were going to contribute and bring to this council. I am so glad that I get to work along side such an amazing group of people who are all so excited about the upcoming conference. I am so thankful for this opportunity to be on council and I came away from our meeting buzzing with excitement about the upcoming year and with so many great ideas for both this conference and the next. I am greatly looking forward to the rest of the year and for BCYAYM Conference 2012! I hope to see everyone there!
